One of the reason is overweight. Repeated attacks of incessant cough could be due to lower airways obstructive disease like bronchial asthma. He should undergo pulmonary function test & complete & differential blood count. If the reult of pft is obstructive then he has to take inhalation of "flutrol" rotacaps with rotahaler to reduce cough. Expectorant cough syrup like bricarex-a or macberry-xt 5 ml 3 times daily may be helpful.
